Dale Earnhardt was one of the best race car drivers in the world.He drove race cars with the best drivers of his time.The race fans either loved or hated Dale.After his death there were many broken hearted fans but there were also many race fans who hated him that missed him also.The races just were not the same.The drivers felt the same way.It has been several years since Dale passed and there hasn't been any other driver step up and take his place.There were other such drivers in the past such as Lee Petty in his era, Joe Weatherly,David Pearson, Cale Yarborough,Richard Petty,Darrell Waltrip and Dale Earnhardt but no one has taken over.Jeff Gordon has won several titles but he is to the sport what Herb Thomas was.Both are very good drivers and have a lot of talent but do not cause the other drivers to fear them in their mirrors or have the same satisfaction of beating them as was the case of Dale.There have been and will always be great drivers in this series but none of them have stepped to the forefront as yet.
